a woodland fairy party for emmie

First the birthday tradition.

Its birthday pancakes...
pancakes with chocolate chips, syrup, a scoop of icecream
and a candle on top.

The best part is everyone gets a candle!
We sing to the birthday girl and everyone makes a wish!

I got this idea when I lived in Colorado from my friends Alyse and Jeff. I met them knocking doors for my summer job, they always invited me and my living scripture team over. We house sat for them, we ate with them and we would watch Aylse's belly move from her first baby rolling around in there. One morning she made us pancakes with chocolate chips and icecream, I thought that would be a fun birthday treat when I had kids.
I saved the idea.. and it has become our very own
Birthday Pancakes

One other tradition...
the kids pick what they want their cake (or cupcakes) to be decorated like.
Emmie wanted a fairy party and cupcakes with grass and a mushroom on top.
And so began the party planning.

four little fairies

a homemade felt bunting

the mushroom grotto

bird nests
made out of chocolate, marshmellows and shredded wheat

fairy berries, fruits of the forest and dew drops (white chocolate chips)
to put into the nests

pansy bites
Did you know you can eat pansy flowers?
Its a very fairy like thing to do.

squirrel treats

petal pop

a scavenger hunt for the fairies

the girls collected items for the forest fairies
and put them behind this
minature door
where they had been left little bird houses for a suprise

Grandma and Grandpa Johnson

Aunt Martilyn, Uncle Kevin and baby Racheal

Grandma Andersen

Father and son and son

Mackenzie and Hayley

So much fun, but the party is over.
Bye Finn.
In 2 weeks it'll be a cowgirl party for Annalese.

Happy Birthday Little May.
When she woke up in the morning I asked her what it felt like to be 5?
She thought about it, looked down and said,
my feet are bigger.

little may

My little miss is off to preschool. How did she get so big? We walk her friend Noah home after preschool and they will hold hands and wear their little backpacks and talk to me about what they did at Mrs. Megan's.
It is the greatest priveledge to be a mom.

This is just before we left on her first day. I love how excited she gets. She is full of passion.

She even has passion for hot dogs. One day we drove down main street and Emmie spotted this little hot dog stand.

We finally stopped to get one the other day.
